i can’t
i
what
i’ve fucked up logic because i think that people who are racist are shitty people?
yes
makes all of the sense
i‘m so tired of this “free speech” bullshit
i do not have to award someone the right to their “opinion” when their “opinion” denies me safety and personhood. (when i talk about my personal experiences here, i’m expanding the argument to include all marginalized identities and existences, since racism does not apply to me, as a white person)
allow me to note that the two women involved in this conversation are white cis women, and the woman blocked out in teal is straight and in a relationship with a white cis man. this is always how it goes. you never see someone who is facing oppression say things like this. the only times i’ve ever encountered this shitty excuse for logic is in arguments with white cis straight people about individual accounts of bigotry and oppression.
i’ve said it a million times and i will say it again:
i do not support government censorship of speech. what i DO support is a social justice movement that works to eliminate any thought process within which bigotry is perceived to be an opinion that deserves respect and preservation. i don’t want to make your hate illegal, i want to make it intolerable.
if your opinion is based around devaluing other people because of a quality that they possess which this shithole society has deemed to be “inferior” or “less worthy,” then it offends me, and being offended by bigotry is not something to be ashamed of. it’s something that should always happen.
sorry, i will not defend to the death your right to say things that oppress others in areas where you have privilege over them. i won’t fucking do it. if that makes me a “liberal arts fauxminist” then that is just fine.
